About Coldwell Banker

The first iteration of Coldwell Banker real estate was established in 1906 after the Great San Francisco Earthquake. The company, founded on the principles of honesty, integrity, and service, was initially named Tucker, Lynch & Coldwell. Soon after, the National Association of Real Estate Exchanges (later the National Association of Realtors) was established and a Code of Ethics for real estate agents across the country. In 1913, Colbert Coldwell formed a partnership with Benjamin Arthur Banker, and in 1920, Tucker, Lynch & Coldwell was renamed Coldwell, Cornwall & Banker.a blue house from Coldwell Banker real estate

Over the next few decades, the company expanded across California. In 1940, Bruce Cornwall resigned as partner, and the company changed their name to Coldwell, Banker & Co, and then Coldwell Banker. By the 1950s, the company had expanded outside of California. Coldwell Banker real estate became a publicly traded company in 1968 and officially had offices from coast in 1976.

Coldwell Banker continued to advocate for fair and ethical real estate practices. In the 1990s, the company was the first to utilize Seller Disclosures, even before it was legally required in each state. The first Coldwell Banker website was launched in 1998 and was one of the first tools that people could use to find houses online. In 2007, the company made it even easier to look at houses by creating a mobile friendly online interface that also utilized GPS. Today, Coldwell Banker real estate continues to be an innovative and entrepreneurial company, with locations across the United States and Canada.
